Discover Portugal’s key red grape varieties
Portugal is one of the world’s richest countries in terms of indigenous grape varieties, yet many consumers are still more familiar with the regions than with the specific grapes that produce the wines they drink.
Touriga Nacional, Baga, Castelão, Trincadeira, and Aragonez are just a few of the many varieties that make up Portugal’s extraordinary red grape heritage—a heritage that helps define the diversity and identity of our wines.
In this course, led by Luís Gradíssimo of the Enóphilo School, you will explore key Portuguese red grape varieties, discover the regions where they truly shine, and understand how each contributes to a wine’s color, aromas, structure, acidity, and tannins. All of this takes place in a relaxed, hands-on session featuring a guided tasting of five wines, allowing you to grasp the essential characteristics of each variety and gain new insights for choosing, tasting, and better appreciating Portuguese red wines.
Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
